BUILDING AN ENTERPRISING COMMUNITY
TRADE SHOW – CHAMBER OF COMMERCE – ENTERPRISE
We gathered all the local businesses in Tramore and established a Trade Show in South, showcasing local products and produce.
With this information, we identified a need for a Chamber of Commerce in Tramore. We recognised that setting up such an organisation from scratch would be an expensive and prolonged task. We further believed that servicing the needs of business needed a dedicated body and that a community organisation was not the appropriate group to provide such a service.
We approached Waterford Chamber of Commerce with a simple plan – that they set up a separate branch for their Tramore members and provide the secretarial and administrative back-up Tramore Chamber of Commerce can now concentrate on issues important to business in Tramore. This provides economies of scale for the Waterford Chamber of Commerce and the blueprint is now being tried out successfully elsewhere. Tramore Chamber of Commerce has operated separately very successfully since.
We formed a sub-committee who put all of the interested parties together and who set up and ran the “Tramore Country Market” until it had gathered enough support and momentum to become an autonomous organisation
It continued to flourish as a separate body and adds significantly to the amenities in Tramore
